說起Pick-Up這種所謂皮卡,在台灣可能真是『化外之車』,不少想拿來當做自家車的消費者超愛,但卻礙於現行法規限制,為了減少麻煩或感覺不好而敬而遠之,自然相對壓抑了皮卡車的銷售成長。偏偏,這種自成車格又極具戶外活動優勢車款卻是愈來愈多,現在就連Mercedes-Benz都宣示將與雷諾合作推出1款體型和福特Ranger相當的皮卡,而且表明商用定位僅屬次要考量,主要迎合的是酷愛戶外休閒生活的有錢階級。別說皮卡真的沒有銷售潛力,目前其主力市場確實僅限於大美洲地區和東南亞,尤其美國1款福特F150即有年銷百萬台實力,但就算是在亞洲皮卡最暢銷的泰國,需求也開始轉向客車和休閒用途。而在台灣呢?說穿了就是受限於政府法規的老舊和不夠彈性。

按現行規定,所謂客貨兩用車僅限國產車,進口車若就貨物稅而言就只能區分成客車和貨車,然而太多新世代皮卡已非純商用車設計思維,甚至根本徹頭徹尾就是台皮卡造型的乘用車,當然包括座艙座位設計也就很轎車了,這點無論VW Amarok或FORD Ranger均屬顯例,業者固然係以貨卡名義進口,而雅好戶外休閒的消費者購入後儘管根本毫無商業用途,卻是得面臨因屬貨車定位而必須每年驗車以至車內後座每逢驗車就得拆掉才能過關的窘境。說穿了終究還是脫不了稅制因素,按現行體制,皮卡欲熱不易,只能繼續屈居稀有車種角色。,
